Oh dear god, those synths

Well, this is a really cool tune. The melody was great and the guitar, although very MIDI, was well produced. The drums didn't bother me that much, although, as you said, they aren't the greatest drum samples to use. The synths did become rather too prominent at unnecessary points, and sometimes the random bells didn't work well, considering the chimes were out of key. The riffs were cool, the drums did they job and weren't too flashy.

All in all, a great track, not much more room for improvement.

Goukisan responds:

Very much appreciated... Very often I get "yo that was siiiiiick" or something along those lines and it's nice to get some real honest feedback.

If people agree with you about the synth I will tone them down.

Thanks for your review

*edit* the bells were meant to not fit the song.. originally the idea behind this song was for the bells and scary pad at the start to represent the fear that the song was fighting against

God, I should be on Ecstacy right now

This track sounds like something played at a small rave. Instead of dragging on forever, it is ended at the perfect length, which is a plus. The melody is repetitive, but most electronica tends to be. The snare rolls were annoying though, way too many, and they drowned out everything else when they came in, plus they were really distorted.

Good job.

gother responds:

Thanks, man. I think, I dunno, I'm tired right now.

Soothing

I can safely say there isn't much else for you to improve on. It served its purpose of calming you down, or if you're high, taking you for quite the sensory trip. The instruments were carefully picked and the melodies were crafted well. The drum was sparse, but worked in your favor by accenting the notes that needed to be accented.

I wish it was longer.

Typical Eurogate stuff.

Ugh, I absolutely despise most of the popular techno being mass-produced in Europe just like shitty hip-hop is in the US. There were some cool bits, like the big crescendo in the beginning that led to silence. That piece got me thinking, "right about now...BOOM" and the boom wasn't there. So that was cool. The melody, albeit catchy, was kinda generic. The drums did their job, kept the beat steady and whatnot, but the standard 4/4 bass and drum stuff is annoying and just cookie cutter.

Bass lines typically were just root notes played in a staccato triplet fashion, again, nothing special about it. The melody changed in a few places, but mostly the changes were just octaves than the original note and stuff like that. Try to put a more creative spin on things next time.

Lighta responds:

Yeah I didn't really have much inspiration this time. =(

This needs work

I'm not going to lie and say this is great. Sadly, it's not. I knew what you were trying to go for, but you didn't reach it. The intro was pointless. It added absolutely nothing to the music as far as melody or neither did it lead into the melody as a tense chord that when it finally lets up, it sounds crazy. The melody was off-kilter, but I liked it. However, if this was given more Drum n' Bass style drums in the back, it would sound killer and it would actually make more "sense" than it does now.

Like chop up and remix the Amen break and use it as the drum beat, and you'll have something more artistically done.

DJBioHazard responds:

There are no drums =.= But yea my friends said that it needs some drums, I'll think about it.

Traditional Hard Gabber

Hardcore techno and gabber can be fun to listen to, or can be so abrasive on your ears you can't even fathom how anyone could enjoy it. Thankfully, this track didn't drag on long enough to get boring. The bass was cool, and the hard bass hits added so much cold atmosphere to the music. One thing that made you lose points was the amount of distortion on the bass. It became way too fuzzy at certain points that it became hard to distinguish between bass hits sometimes.

All in all, a good track. Keep it up and lay low on distortion.

Murderist responds:

Fanta5t1c loves his distortion. lol, There was even more distortion and overdrive before I remixed it. O_O

Generic trance but still well produced

To me, trance is a dying genre. Hardly any artists nowadays add anything new, their own flair to the music. It's just synths over synths over synths, and Europe seems to be spawning shitty trance, house, and techno for years now. Now onto this track.

Like I mentioned before, there is almost no new creative touches to trance anymore. Sorry to say, but this sounds like every other Euro-trance I have been subjected to in my cousin's car. The melody is cool, the synths are cool, the beat works well enough, but none of it is revolutionary. I know it's hard to come up with a track that will redefine an entire genre, but it's a must in terms of trance.

Don't get me wrong, I bobbed my head along with it, and it's by no means a bad track. Hell no. It just fails to bring anything new to the table.

Interesting Blend

The initial blastbeats led me on to think of this as generic grindcore, you know the type. But as we progressed into the song, we arrived at well mixed electronics and riffs that blended nicely. At one point, however, two riffs played simultaneously didn't mix well. I can't remember the exact point to be honest. However the alternation between soft ambient parts and jarring blastbeats makes for an interesting piece that can and should be expanded upon.

I like it.

that's what we were going for

glad u liked it

Fantastic, Marko!

Another great track that you wrote. Like a previous someone wrote, this would work well in a video game, like Final Fantasy or something epic of that nature. Great tremolo picking, the drums worked rather well for what they were, and the lack of vocals was actually a rather smart choice.

Wrrryyyyy

Goatchrist responds:

Thanks a lot my man. Always cool hearing praise like this from a guy who doesn't listen to BM at all ;)

I'm impressed.

I am. When the song first started with the drum loop, I didn't expect much, but when the song hit the halfway mark, I heard a huge Throbbing Gristle influence just bolt in.

The production is perfect. It has that abandoned factory feel to it, which is something I strive to achieve in my music, and generally comes out.

BUT ANYWAYZ, it's a great song, and around the 1 minute mark the drum loop changes, so that was a good, unexpected "twist"

8/10

MadCow responds:

Thank you for the critique! It was very helpful and encouraging, and will serve to further support me on future projects :)

I CAN'T HEAR YOU! MY EGO'S IN THE WAY!
